“J’utilise la figure de l’ellipse dans mon travail depuis presque 30 ans. C’est une figure géométrique qui n’a pas un centre unique mais deux points focaux. Elle contient donc un potentiel de permutation infini. Aussi, elle peut être simultanément comprise comme une forme plate sur la surface du tableau ou bien comme un cercle en perspective, créant l’illusion de profondeur dans la peinture ou le dessin. C’est une figure que je trouve très élégante, à la fois reposante et dynamique. Son utilisation m’a permis de jouer avec les ambiguïtés de ces deux états, entre la surface et la profondeur.”
“I have been using the figure of the ellipse in my work for almost 30 years. It is a geometric figure that does not have a single center but two focal points. It therefore contains an infinite permutation potential. Also, it can be simultaneously understood as a flat shape on the surface of the painting or as a perspective circle, creating the illusion of depth in painting or drawing. It is a figure that I find very elegant, both restful and dynamic. Its use allowed me to play with the ambiguities of these two states, between surface and depth. ”
Biographie
Née dans Dorset au Royaume Uni en 1956. Elle vit et travaille en France. Diplômée de la Slade School of Art en 1981 et de la Goldsmiths College of Art en 1991 (MA Fine Art).

Biography
Born in Dorset in the United Kingdom in 1956. She lives and works in France. Graduated from the Slade School of Art in 1981 and from the Goldsmiths College of Art in 1991 (MA Fine Art).
